CV Writing Tips

The main objective of any CV is to market you and your abilities to a prospective employer. Employers use CVs to analysis your skills. Your CV should include your educational and employment background..

Remember to follow the following basic rules:-

  • Keep it simple
  • Make it legible and free of errors
  • Be honest - stick to the facts
  • Have relevant facts
  • List your contact details

 

The basic elements of a CV are as follows:-

  • Name and Contact Details
  • Brief personal profile
  • Educational information - Including the date and year.
  • Work Experience - Start with your most recent position. Include full or part -time jobs, academic research, work placements and voluntary work.
  • List accomplishments.
  • List Activities/sporting etc. and your achievements.
  • References. - If you put "available upon request " make sure that they are!
